It's that time of year again and we are preparing our wines for our big, opening day. The excitement of preparing, bottling and presenting 18 new wines from a new vintage year is something that really generates a lot of excitement and energy in the winery. Its hard to believe that just 4 months ago we were sold out of all but 6 wines and most of these new wines were just being picked, pressed, fermented and transferred in preparation for this year's release. Now all the hard work is paying off.
Our 2015 vintage appears to be very strong. The flavors of our Chardonnay, Concord and Vidal Blanc have a real assertiveness that gives the wines a backbone that shows through in both the varietals and their blends. The new Red Silks Rose' and Vidal Blanc Semi-sweet, may be two of the best wines we have ever made. It is impossible to judge the new Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc that just came out of their respective barrels but giving them a few months in the bottle to find their centers and assert their true characters, I think we will be looking at some really nice wines.
We will have a few new offerings this Spring including a new white blend called Winners Circle White. WCW is a blend of Chardonnay, Vidal and Traminette with a dry finish and a beautiful floral fragrance. WCW is a perfect Summer sipping wine. Our new red blend is a Winners Circle Red Reserve which is our blend of Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc aged in 60 gallon French Oak barrels for 2 years. The resulting wine is a perfect blend of fruit and tannin that will satisfy anyone looking for a special estate wine to drink with dinner. Our final, new offering will be a Ruby Port to compliment our Chocolate Ruby Royal. The new port blend is also a reserve blend of Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc aged in French Oak for 2 years but married with brandy and bottle aged to create a warm, smooth dessert wine.
We hope you will be able to stop out and check out our new offerings as well as our exciting new vintages in all the same wines you have come to know and love here at Cassel Vineyards.
