The days of Summer are numbered and we are counting them down here at Cassel vineyards. In our family, fall begins when the harvest starts and that means only 7 days remain. Next weekend we are planning on harvesting our Concord grapes which have a very high sugar content thanks to the very hot, dry weather we are experiencing this past two weeks.
To mark the end of Summer celebration, we are hosting a slider party today from 4-6:00 as part of the three stops on the Sweet Arrow wine Trail. No tickets are required and you can eat your slider any way you want to. What we are featuring is on last taste of Summer on a Bun. Imagine a juicy burger on a holiday weekend topped with fresh mozzarella, vine ripened tomato, just cut basil and aged balsamic vinegar (we like a dab of course ground mustard too). In the form of a slider it is the perfect metaphore for this last week of Summer. Delicious tastes of everything that Summer stands for lingering on your taste buds for a slider moment and then washed down with a glass of ice cold Rose'. Summer on a bun washed away with Sunshine in a glass.
Next Saturday, it will be roast leg of venison washed down with fresh pressed grape juice and an aged Chambourcin. But lets not get ahead of ourselfs. Come out today and live for the day. Enjoy one last taste of Summer.
