Barrel Tasting and Transfers

It’s that time of year again when we need to taste, blend and prepare to bottle our wines from the last several years.  This Spring ritual is the pleasant first step in a list of actual hard, back breaking chores that leave us sore, tired but satisfied.

After tasting and removing all the wines wines, we blend our well aged port, chambourcin and cab franc.  After 1 full year in French Oak the wines taste relaxed and refined with a silky smoothness that never ceases to suprise us.

This year we plan to release for the first time a 2 year Cab Franc barrel aged reserve.  These hand selected barrels were left to age a second year and contain our 2015 Cab Franc which has now been in oak barrels for 2.5 years resting.  It is something to experience and I hope everyone can enjoy it when we announce its release on April 21.
