Merry Christmas to all our friends and fans.  We hope you bought enough wine for the cold winter nights ahead.

Our last day of business will be Dec. 23 12-6:00.

Happy Beaujolais Neauveau Day

Its that time again, the third Thursday in November always marks the release of the new year's vintage in France.  Today was the first official release and tasting of the year.  As usual, our grapes are all picked and the wines are settling down to spend the winter resting in their tanks.  We picked and pressed the Late Harvest Vidal this past Monday, so that is one more harvest in the books.

Our first take on the new French vintage was a reserved appreciation for a unique taste.  This year's Gamay has more body and less fruit.  It will be great with Thanksgiving Turkey and Cranberry stuffing but I will not choose it for my first choice of red wines.

It will be interesting to see how our wine develop and compare to the French grapes from 1/2 a world away.  Hopefully it is going to be a great year because our crop was very generous this year.

Evergrain Beer at Cassel Vineyards

Last week, we began serving Evergrain beer at Cassel Vineyards of Hershey.  We chose Evergrain as our partner at our vineyard after talking to the owners about their philosophy of supporting local products and ingredients.  We chose the Hefewizen and two IPAs one wet hop and one hop nugget.  We love their product and identify with their product.

We began selling their beer at $6 a pint and samples of 2/8 oz. for $6 each.  We plan to keep selling these beers until we close in Dec.  Our fans have been really enjoying the choices and we invite you to stop by and try a beer or a wine.

Fall in the Vineyard

The vineyard looks beautiful, and the winery is a hive of activity at this time of year.   Today was our last day of picking and as always we ended with a delicious meal of fresh, roasted venison and lots of apple cider and Chambourcin wine.  The weather cooperated just enough to allow us to get all the picking done by 11:15 which was quite an accomplishment considering we picked about 6 tons of grapes.  We can't thank the picking crew enough!  It consisted of about 50 people who endured the wind and falling temperatures to finish our picking.  We are so fortunate to have such good friends.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this 2016 harvest possible!

Our New Line of Toys!

Check out this new line of toys from Cassel Vineyards of Hershey.  These matchbox trucks, license plates and HO Gauge Railroad Boxcars can be special ordered for Christmas this year.  These unique and beautiful gifts make the perfect one-of-a-kind holiday gift.   If you are interested in placing an order contact

We love our new toys!!!

Chardonnay in the Tanks

A great weekend as we were able to get our Chardonnay Grapes picked, crushed and ready to ferment this past weekend.  We had a great turnout on our first picking party as we had perfect weather and lots of fun.  When we were done we were able to sit down and enjoy some fresh squeezed juice with a couple of hotdogs as we crushed and pressed the beautiful golden fruit.  All the numbers were very good and it looks like we should have another very nice vintage in the tanks.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers and friends who joined us in the picking this weekend.  If the weather remains dry and warm, we plan to repeat the whole process again next week with the Concord grapes.  Check your schedule and join us if you have a free morning.  We have a great time and you will meet a lot of fun new people.

First Picking Party Sept. 17 at 9:00 AM

Hard to believe that harvest is here!  Next Sat. Sept. 17 and 24 we will begin our 2016 Vintage Harvest.  The excitement is really building and we have had dozens of people expressing great enthusiasm about helping us make it happen.   Come and join us.  Watch our Cassel Vineyards Facebook page for updates.

For those who are unfamiliar with our picking parties, here is a brief explanation.  We get together at 9 AM and work for a couple of hours picking grapes, making friends, solving the world's problems and administering and getting psychotherapy.  The weather can be cool in the morning and warm and sunny by afternoon so you need to wear layers.  If you have a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses they can also come in handy.  The only other thing you might need is a bottle of water.  We will provide the gloves and the picking tools and show you how to pick like a pro.  We usually pick until 12 or 1:00 and then break for a lunch that we serve to our whole crew.  The meals are homemade and we serve them to you with love and appreciation for the work you have helped us to accomplish.  While you enjoy your lunch you can watch us crush the grapes, squeeze the juice and make the wine.  Kids and grownups alike enjoy sampling the grape juice.
